"Therefore
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!"
II
Corinthians 5:17
There is an erroneous
belief among Indians that any Christian
who follows Jesus Christ becomes more
of a westerner rather than Christ’s Follower.
There are always fake believers in any
religion, and no religion should be judged
by these imposters. A true follower of
Jesus Christ will not be looking at western
or eastern culture, but will rise above
all these cultures, and will be applying
the teaching of His Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ in it’s purity. He will acknowledge
Jesus as His only Savior, love everyone
as he is commanded, and deny his own selfish
desires and passions, and offer himself
as a living sacrifice unto His Lord Jesus,
and no other gods. (Romans 12:1,2). He
will abide by the Spirit of God every
step of the way, shun any form of idol
worship, serve Him with gladness, and
continuously praise Jesus and adore Him
all the days of his life. He will never
be ashamed of his Savior, who died for
his sin, and rose again for his justification.
He will publicly come out and take his
Baptism of dedication, and boldly talk
about his loving Savior, and proclaim
His name among all people.
The person who loves Jesus above
any gods, becomes very different from
his own people, and any other person
on earth. He rises above both the cultures,
Eastern and Western cultures! He becomes
more interested in studying the Word
of God (Bible), and becomes very much
involved in praying to his Savior Jesus
Christ. The light of the Holy Spirit
shines through him, and those people
who are possessed by demons will be
very much troubled by his presence,
and try to stay far away from him. The
true believer of Jesus Christ will love
to fellowship with people who love Jesus
above everything, and he will break
bread with them, learn the teachings
of Jesus, and pray with them as often
as he could.
The Western Culture has nothing
to do with this person’s decision to
follow Jesus Christ all the days of
his life. He may worship in an American
church or an Indian Church according
to his preference. This person rises
above all cultures, and delights in
being with those followers of Jesus
Christ, who understand him very well.
His mind will be always focused on Jesus
and he will be singing the song "This
world is not my home, I'm just passing
through".
"Since, then, you have been raised
with Christ, set your hearts on things
above, where Christ is seated at the right
hand of God. Set your minds on things
above, not on earthly things. For
you died, and your life is now hidden
with Christ in God."
"and
have put on the new self, which is being
renewed in knowledge in the image of its
Creator. Here there is no Greek
or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised,
barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but
Christ is all, and is in all."
